Our story
A life project of the Mucharrafich Uzcátegui family
Oceanía Hotel Boutique is a life project that carries as its emblem the traditions and values of the Mucharrafich Uzcátegui family.
Its origin is a love story that crossed borders and creeds. Mr. Esset Halim Mucharrafich Richani, of Lebanese origin and Druze faith, and Mrs. Rosaura Uzcátegui, Venezuelan and Catholic, married in the Catholic Church and started a family. In 1960 they built their home in Maracaibo: nearly 1,500 m² of gardens, a spacious living room for gathering, balconies and spaces to receive friends at get-togethers and celebrations. "Stunning," said those who visited it.
After the parents passed away, the big house, as the family called it, remained the legacy of all their children. In 2013 the idea was born to turn it into a business and give way to a hotel whose name pays tribute to its roots: Oceanía, "what the ocean brought," inspired by the ship that brought the family from Lebanon.
The project preserved the foundations of the original house and added three floors and office areas. The lobby occupies the old living room of the house, and one of the rooms is the one that belonged to the Mucharrafich couple. In this way, the family treasures its memories in every corner of the hotel.
